Responsibilities

The Village Treasury Department coordinates all of the financial activities of the Village and is responsible for the proper accounting of the general, water, electric and sewer funds. Besides preparing and signing checks for payment, making deposits and preparing the annual financial statement, the Treasurer’s office overseas and manages the meter reading and utility billing processes for the water, sewer and electric utilities. Accounts receivable, accounts payable and village payroll are also handled by the treasurer’s office. The treasurer serves as the budget officer and is instrumental in the development of the annual general fund budget, its oversight and administration. The treasurer also ensures that the proper auditing of all financial documents and processes are conducted and oversees the village’s investment program.

Questions about village property taxes, water, sewer or electric rates can all be answered by this department. If you need to set up HEAP payments, need a tax payment certification, or have a question about your electric, water or sewer bills, this is the department to contact. The Treasury Department is also responsible for determining if you can receive a credit on your water & sewer bill if you have a leak. Many other tasks and responsibilities are handled through this important department so if you are unsure, don’t hesitate to give them a call.
