Responsibilities
The Village Treasury Department coordinates all of the financial
activities of the Village and is responsible for the proper accounting
of the general, water, electric and sewer funds. Besides preparing
and signing checks for payment, making deposits and preparing the
annual financial statement, the Treasurer’s office overseas
and manages the meter reading and utility billing processes for
the water, sewer and electric utilities. Accounts receivable, accounts
payable and village payroll are also handled by the treasurer’s
office. The treasurer serves as the budget officer and is instrumental
in the development of the annual general fund budget, its oversight
and administration. The treasurer also ensures that the proper
auditing of all financial documents and processes are conducted
and oversees the village’s investment program.
Questions about village property taxes, water, sewer or electric
rates can all be answered by this department. If you need to set
up HEAP payments, need a tax payment certification, or have a question
about your electric, water or sewer bills, this is the department
to contact. The Treasury Department is also responsible for determining
if you can receive a credit on your water & sewer bill if you
have a leak. Many other tasks and responsibilities are handled
through this important department so if you are unsure, don’t
hesitate to give them a call.
