Board
Approves Resolution 4-2004
Resolution 4-2004 authorizes
Chief Ken Machemer to enter into an Interagency Assistance Memorandum
of Understanding with the State and other Chautauqua County police
departments, authorizing the Westfield Police to assist other county
departments if the need arises. Likewise, if Westfield needs
assistance, those agencies that are a part of this agreement may
help us. "We've been doing this for years informally during
emergencies so when we started to look into it at our Chief's Association
meetings, we found out that NYS General Municipal Law basically
requires the agreement to be in writing." Said Chief Machemer
at the last board meeting.
Westfield joins the City
of Dunkirk and Jamestown, Town of Ellicott, Lakewood/Busti, Fredonia,
Silver Creek, SUNY Fredonia, Sheriff's Office, and the New York
State police departments in the agreement.
The agreement, in brief,
provides additional police protection to all of our citizens, especially
during emergencies by making the most efficient use of law enforcement
personnel from each political subdivision in the County.
